Edinburgh Airport expansion ‘would boost economy by £867m’
02.09.09
Expansion plans that could see 26 million passengers passing through Edinburgh Airport by 2030 would support 16,000 jobs and provide an annual boost of £867 million for the Scottish economy, a new report by Scottish Enterprise and airport owner BAA found.
The report suggests that the airport's masterplan, which was published in 2006, has the potential to provide a huge boost for the countries economy. A spokesman said that it is ‘critical’ in helping the Capital's financial services sector weather the recession.
