Ryanair want quick sale of Edinburgh Airport
02.06.09
Ryanair today said that the sale of Edinburgh Airport ‘cannot come a moment too soon’ for UK consumers. The Irish budget airline also described Edinburgh, Gatwick and Stansted Airports as ‘over specified Taj Mahal palaces,' which we think is something most passengers would not agree with.
The airline also hit out at the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) for its lack of regulation of BAA after its director of economic regulation Harry Bush approved airport price increases at Stansted. The fact that Ryanair does not mention Glasgow Airport – which BAA could, and probably would, sell instead of Edinburgh if it loses its appeal against the Competition Commission ruling – seems to have escaped the Ryanair PR (press release?) team. Ryanair flies from Glasgow's rival, Prestwick.
