Council question Scottish Government on Edinburgh Airport expansion
02.03.10
Edinburgh City Council leaders are to ask the Scottish Government whether it will assess the impact an expansion at Edinburgh Airport will have on climate change policies, the Evening News reports. Planning leader Jim Lowrie will ask the Government to look at how a planned expansion will impact the city's ability to meet carbon reduction targets.
The decision to question the Government follows comments from Green councillor Steve Burgess at a Council planning committee meeting yesterday. He said: 'I am concerned that the council is being given conflicting directions by the SNP government. They can't have it both ways. Do they support endless airport expansion or are they willing to place limits on pollution from an increasing number of flights?'
