Passenger carries knife through East Midlands Airport security
30.07.08
A holidaymaker has told how he inadvertently passed through East Midlands Airport's security checks and onto a plane with a multi-tool ‘hammer knife’ in his hand luggage, according to press reports today.
The 27-year-old Nottinghamshire man, who has asked to remain anonymous, said he forgot he had the knife, complete with three-inch blade and saw, in his rucksack when he arrived at East Midlands Airport. But the tool's hammer-headed shape apparently passed through the Leicestershire airport's X-ray scans undetected.
