Passengers up 6.2% at East Midlands Airport

East Midlands Airport has released figures showing a continued rise in passengers in October, with passenger up for the ninth consecutive month. The airport handled a total of 475,441 passengers last month, 6.2 percent more than in 2006.
The passenger growth was driven by a 19.2 percent jump in international passengers, with domestic passengers down 1.8 percent and passengers on charter flights down.10.9 percent. Dublin was the most popular flight destination from East Midlands last month, with the island hotspot of Palma on Mallorca continuing to be in demand.
In the period January to October the airport handled 4.66 million passenger, up 14.4 percent compared to 4.08 million in the same period of 2006.
Recent destinations announced from East Midlands Airport include bmibaby's new routes to Nice from 1st April 2008, with additional destinations to Gdansk and Warsaw, which also start for the summer season.
