Job losses at East Midlands Airport
26.02.09
Up to 25 jobs could be cut at East Midlands Airport. Staff were told yesterday that 60 roles would be axed and 35 posts created after a review of operations by Manchester Airports Group (MAG), which owns the airport.
Geoff Muirhead, MAG Chief Executive, said a fall in passenger numbers was one of the reasons for the cuts. He said: ‘We expect to continue to face passenger falls in the foreseeable future, and we must respond to this.’ He said that the airport hopes to achieve the proposed cuts through redeployment and voluntary redundancies where possible.
