The Airbus A380 superjumbo is set to fly in to East Midlands Airport on Monday (March 26), generating huge excitement in the local area. Described as 'the pride of British and European aviation', the A380 is a double-decker four-engined aircraft.
Aviation enthusiasts are expected to turn out in force for the visit on Monday, which could cause traffic problems for passengers using the airport. The airport is opening its Aeropark viewing area so that enthusiasts can get a close up view of 'the shape of things to come' in civil aviation.
The Airbus A380 will be at the airport from approximately 11:25. It will perform a go-around and low-approach at the airport. Those interested in taking a closer look can head to the Aeropark on the north side of the airfield on Monday from 09:00, where they will be charged £2 for a ticket that also includes parking.
Enthusiasts are asked not to park around the perimeter of the airport or surrounding roads.
