East Midlands Airport complaints procedure criticised
22.09.08
Anti-airport protestors have said that it is too hard to complain at East Midlands Airport, the Melton Times reports. Steve Charlish from the DEMAND Campaign called for the airport to make it easier to give feedback.
He told the newspaper: ‘It is vital the different ways in which people can complain to the airport are made public and as easy as possible to use. But the website appears to have been designed to discourage complaints. The only 'obvious' method electronically is to use the online 'your feedback' form.’ He also noted that the number to call was not free.
An airport spokesman responded: ‘We welcome any practical suggestions which will make the complaints procedure more accessible. The airport website is only one of a number of ways complaints can be registered - via e-mail to: environment@eastmidlandsairport.com, by letter, by a local rate telephone number: 08450108 8540 or by fax on: 01332 853202. Last month, the vast majority of complaints were received via email and letter.’
DEMAND has called for a limit on night flights to the airport which it says disturb people's sleep.
It has set up a petition to the Government which can be signed at www.demand.uk.net
