East Midlands Airport sealed off over car park alert

Part of East Midlands Airport was evacuated yesterday morning following a security alert over a suspicious vehicle in the airport's short term car park. A 100m cordon was set up around part of the terminal building and a car park and a police were called during the incident at about 09:15.
The police investigated suspicious containers that had been left underneath the vehicle, however they turned out to be harmless. Passengers were let back in to the terminal after 10 minutes, but part of the car park was cordoned off at 11:15.
The airport continued to operate as normal during the alert and no flights were affected.
