A music festival is set to cause major disruptions for air travellers at East Midlands Airport this weekend. Passengers heading to or from the airport are being urged to allow more time for journeys as thousands flock to Donington Park for the Download Music Festival this weekend.
Major roads and motorways leading to the venue are likely to be congested from Friday (June 13) until Sunday (June 15), an airport spokesman said. The airport has been working with the event's organisers for several months and a traffic management system has been put in place to minimise delays.
In order to aid traffic flow from the event, on Monday (June 16), there will be no right turn out of the main airport entrance. All passengers wishing to turn right out of the airport’s main entrance can do so by turning left and following the short diversion.
