Traffic warning for East Midlands Airport this weekend

Holidaymakers using East Midlands Airport this weekend have been warned to allow extra time for their journeys, as the Download festival will take place this weekend at neighbouring Donington Park. About 70,000 are expected to attend the music event which runs from Friday to Sunday and camp sites are already open.
The Donington Park venue is next to East Midlands Airport and those flying in and out have been told to expect heavy traffic throughout the weekend. Diversions will be in place on Monday to deal with people leaving the festival site.
Kelly McHugh, transport manager for East Midlands Airport, said: ‘We always recommend that our customers check in at least two hours before their flight is due to depart. With the extra cars on the road this weekend, we are advising people to allow even more time in planning their journey to and from the airport.’
