Councillor appointed to Durham Tees Valley Airport committee
30.09.08
A Scarborough councillor has landed a role on the Durham Tees Valley Airport steering committee, the Evening News reports. Northstead representative Eric Broadbent has been appointed as a member of the airport's Consultative Committee by North Yorkshire County Council’s ruling executive.
The committee is the forum in which the management of Durham Tees Valley Airport interact and exchange ideas with the communities in the vicinity of the airport, local authorities, local business representatives and other airport users and interested parties. Councillor Broadbent 'will act as the eyes and ears of the county council, representing its interests and reporting back,' the newspaper reports.
Councillor Broadbent, who is chairman of the county council’s transport and telecommunications committee, told the newspaper that he is aware of the many issues he will have to deal with such as noise insulation and other environmental problems – including local air quality, emissions and securing and developing the airports relations with its local communities.
