Flyglobespan cuts Durham Tees Valley services
27.09.07
Scottish budget airline Flyglobespan has cut back part of its first full winter schedule from Durham Tees Valley Airport after a lack of interest from passengers. However, bosses at the airport and the airline say that the cutback is only a small part of the overall operations.
Flyglobespan, who launched its first flights from Durham Tees Valley in March, runs flights to ten European destinations, five of which are part of its winter programme. However, it has cut its weekly flights to Palma, Majorca over the winter.
The flights were due to operate every Saturday, but will finish on November 17, restarting again in March because Palma has not proved to be a popular winter destination, a spokesman said.
The spokesman added: 'There has been a really poor uptake on it. We have had to cancel it and let customers know in plenty of time.' None of the other four winter routes will be affected.
