Durham Tees Valley Airport is bracing itself for a busy festive period, as its latest passenger figures show a healthy 17% increase. The airport anticipates around 13,000 people will pass through over the Christmas and New Year holiday period.
Charter flights operating to Tenerife and Alicante during the season are full to capacity as passengers head to sunnier climes. Other popular destinations include the Mediterranean hotspots Alicante, Malaga and Palma and the Canary Islands of Lanzarote and Tenerife.
