Emergency landing at Durham Tees Valley Airport over sick passenger

A plane had to make an emergency diversion to Durham Tees Valley Airport yesterday after a passenger fell seriously ill. Paramedics rushed to the scene at lunchtime to help the passenger travelling on the easyJet flight from Malaga to Newcastle - a route only launched last week.
A spokesman for the airport said they were expecting a flight to be arranged to transfer the remaining passengers on to Newcastle Airport. He did not offer details of the condition of the passenger.
