New winter sun routes for Durham Tees Valley

New winter sun flights have been announced that are expected to bring an extra 18,000 passengers a year to Durham Tees Valley Airport. Thomson Airways plans several new services from November, including the first flights to Sharm el-Sheikh on the Red Sea from the airport.
The news is a boost to the airport, which has been hit by cuts in services by some budget operators and saw passengers drop by a massive 53 percent last year. Last week it announced that a review of operations would mean 32 job losses and a cut in operating hours, including overnight closure.
