Hilton bid for Durham Tees Valley Airport hotel site

A Hilton hotel could be built at Durham Tees Valley Airport , the Herald & Post reports. A planning application to build the 130-bedroom hotel for the international chain has been submitted to Darlington Council. The hotel would be under the Hampton by Hilton brand which claims to provide ‘a new kind of economy hotel’.
C J Leonard of Guisborough would develop the hotel on the site of the vacant Lancaster House building, which would be demolished to make way for a four-storey building with parking for 134 cars. The application states the proposed development ‘intends to provide a high quality service to an expanding market, which is being facilitated through the growth of the airport.’
