Durham Tees Valley Airport bomb scare woman quizzed by FBI

A woman who sparked a bomb scare at Durham Tees Valley Airport earlier this week was interviewed by the FBI on her arrival in the United States.
The passenger caused a major security alert at the airport when she abandoned a suitcase. The terminal was evacuated for more than two hours on Thursday but bomb disposal experts found only brochures in the bag.
The woman, who has not been named, was travelling back to her home in Atlanta via Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam after a holiday. Durham Police said US security services interviewed the woman for two hours and found there was 'no criminal intent'.
A spokesman said: 'When challenged at check-in at Durham Tees Valley Airport over overweight hand luggage it appears that she decanted some items and then simply abandoned one of her bags.'
'On arrival in Atlanta the passenger was met by a number of different security organisations, including the FBI, and interviewed for some two hours. It was established that there was no criminal intent but she was certainly made aware of the problems she had caused.'
