KLM use bigger planes at Durham Tees Valley
13.11.08
One of Durham Tees Valley Airport's most important scheduled services has been given a major boost. KLM announced it is to significantly increase capacity on the Amsterdam route - using bigger planes - as part of its plan to expand its hub-based network.
KLM is putting on a larger 103-seat aircraft on the first flight from Durham Tees Valley in the morning and on the evening return flight from Amsterdam from until the end of March next year. This will mean there will be more than 7,000 extra seats available on the popular business and leisure route.
Airport marketing and communications manager, Emma Ormerod, said: ‘I think the decision should be seen as a real vote of confidence, not just in the airport but in the local economy as a whole, especially those businesses in sectors such as petrochemicals and engineering who compete in a global market and need fast links to international air services.'
