7 hour delay for Flyglobespan at Durham Tees Valley
12.03.08
More than 200 holidaymakers were grounded for almost seven hours when their flight was delayed at Durham Tees Valley Airport. The passengers had been expecting to board a Flyglobespan flight leaving at 09:35 to Malaga yesterday. But due to a technical fault the flight was delayed until 16:20.
A spokesman for Flyglobespan said a member of staff had apologised to passengers. He said: ‘The crew detected a technical problem with the aircraft. The initial opinion was that it could be repaired quickly but it proved more complicated than first thought and a replacement aircraft had to be sourced. The passengers were given a refreshment voucher during the delay and a complimentary drink on the flight.'
A spokesperson for the airport added: ‘The aircraft was cleaned and ready to cater for passengers when crew arrived and found a problem with the electrics. Flyglobespan offered £4 vouchers and I believe passengers were given the opportunity to have a cigarette. They were also told that for operational reasons they could not allow people to go back and forward.’
A £4 voucher and one cigarette break for a 7 hour delay. Nice. It sounds like you get what you pay for.
