09.09.08
Peel Holdings, the company that owns Durham Tees Valley Airport, has submitted plans for a 100-bed hotel near the terminal. The £8.5m hotel would be just 300m from the airport building.
Darlington Council will consider the proposals soon and claims it has no reason to block any of the hotel applications at the moment. There is currently another two hotels proposed for the airport, from Northcare Developments for an 80-bed hotel and CG Robinson for a 130-bed Hilton. Durham Tees Valley Airport claimed rival hotels could threaten its own investment plans.
Peter de la Perrelle, Director of Peel Holdings, said: ‘On completion the hotel will represent a quality addition to the airport's facilities and we look forward to being part of the successful development of DTVA in the years to come.’
