Work on a £46m dual-carriageway between Broadbridge, Maydown and Derry Airport will start next year. Plans for the 6.6 km stretch of road, known as the A2, were unveiled by the regional development minister on Monday.
Minister Conor Murphy said the road ‘would contribute towards the economic development of the region and improve safety.’ He welcomed the benefits the dual-carriageway would bring to road users, adding: 'This will help to accommodate increasing traffic flows, resulting in reduced journey times and making the road a safer and more attractive route for east/west traffic on the A2.'
