Farmer loses Carlisle Airport fight
17.10.09
A farmer has lost his legal battle to halt the expansion of Carlisle Airport. Thomas Brown, from Irthington, was seeking a judicial review over Carlisle City Council's approval of Stobart Air's plans for the site. He claimed the authority failed to consider the environmental impact of runway and terminal improvements when granting planning permission last year.
Mr Justice Owen, at London's High Court yesterday, dismissed his complaints as ‘unarguable.’ The decision means plans for the airport's multi-million pound redevelopment can now press ahead.
