Bristol Airport bus service to expand
27.02.10
Bristol Airport has announced that it will invest in 12 new buses for the Flyer service, which runs between the airport and Bristol Temple Meads railway station. Half a million passengers a year use the Flyer express coach service, which runs every 15 minutes, ‘a significant achievement for a regional airport’ according to an airport spokesman.
The new Volvo buses will replace the nine coaches currently operating the service. They will be wheelchair accessible and passengers will be able to take their luggage on board with them, speeding up the boarding process. The first six of the new buses, each costing £180,000, are due to come into service in the next few months, with the remaining six arriving in 2011.
Each bus will feature leather seats and wood effect flooring, as well as free Wi-Fi access and power points to charge phones and laptops. An airport spokesman said: ‘The service continues to grow and is particularly convenient for the increasing number of overseas visitors arriving in the region by air, making onward journeys to Bristol and across the South West as simple and convenient as possible.’
