Ryanair to cut Polish flights
26.01.09
Ryanair is to suspend 12 connections to Gdansk, Katowice, Lodz, Poznań, Szczecin and Wrocław from March. A spokesman for the budget airline told the Polish Press Agency that flights from Gdansk to Bristol Airport and Liverpool; Katowice to Bristol; Lodz to Liverpool, Shannon, East Midlands; Poznań to East Midlands; Szczecin to Bristol, Birmingham, Liverpool and Luton; and Wrocław to Bournemouth were being cancelled.
The spokesman said: ‘These connections will not be available in the summer due to an increase in Polish navigational fairs introduced in 2008. Ryanair is unable to accept these costs and continue to offer the lowest prices.'
Ryanair’s spokesman added that ‘the consequences of the decision of the Polish Air Navigation Agency will lead to a fall in the number of passengers carried from and to Poland by a half of million this year and will lead to a loss of 500 jobs and €55 million for Polish economy.'
