Man fined over drink fueled plane trouble on Bristol Airport flight
21.06.07
A Polish man living in Somerset who tried to jump out of a plane and then exposed himself to a policewoman he then tried to kiss her has been fined. Ryszard Gabryel admitted being drunk on an aircraft and was fined £500.
Mr Gabryel drank from his bottle of vodka as he caused chaos and panic on an easyJet flight from Poland to Bristol Airport. The 43-year-old, who does not speak English, was unsteady on his feet and appeared confused. After cabin crew members managed to get him to sit down he took a swig from his bottle of vodka and starting shouting at the window. He then stumbled towards the cabin door and tried to open it while pushing stewards away and ranting maniacally.
He was arrested when the plane landed at Bristol Airport and was taken to Weston police station. On the way he kissed one of the female police officers who arrested him and then he undid his flies in an attempt to flash at the bewildered WPC.
Magistrates fined him £500 and ordered him to pay £60 costs when he appeared at North Somerset Courthouse after admitting being drunk on an aircraft. He lives in Cheddar and works for a car cleaning company, earning £60 a week. He sends every penny he can back to his family in Poland, so the fine is a huge amount for him.
