Passengers up 8.4% at Bristol Airport
20.12.07
Bristol Airport reported passengers 8.4% higher in November compared to the same month a year earlier. Domestic traffic was 9.2% lower due to the cessation of BA Connect's services in March, but International traffic increased 21.6%, benefiting from the opening of the new Ryanair base at the hub last month.
Charter traffic was 7.4% lower in November as a result of a reduction in capacity due to the ongoing consolidation in the inclusive tour sector. In the 12 months to the end of November domestic passengers were down 9.3%, charter passengers down 1.3% and international passengers up 10.4%, with overall passengers up 2.6% to just over 5.8m.
easyJet has announced three new routes from April 2008 to Biarritz (4 per week), Olbia (3 per week) and Split (2 per week) during the month and Flyglobespan has announced a weekly flight for the Summer season to Toronto starting 26 May 2008, Bristol's second scheduled transatlantic destination.
