Bristol Airport passengers up 2.6%
20.10.08
Bristol Airport has reported an increase in passengers for September of 2.6% compared to a year earlier, with 601,587 passengers, due to additional low cost capacity.
Domestic passengers continue to decline, down 4.9%, but international passengers increased by 20.8% as a result of the ongoing impact of the Ryanair base, new easyJet routes and the introduction of Lufthansa flights in March 2008. Charter traffic was 23.2% lower than last year due to the loss of XL Airways and continued consolidation in the industry.
In the year to the end of September passengers were up 8.6% to 6.27m. Domestic passengers were down 8% to 1.2m, international passengers up 22.7% to 3.8m and charter passengers down 8% to 1.24m.
