Bristol Airport passengers down 16.9%
20.06.09
Passengers were 16.9% lower at Bristol Airport last month than last year. The airport said that this was 'an improvement over the first quarter performance.'
Domestic passenger were 8.6% lower, primarily due to reduced flights from easyJet and Air Southwest, partially offset by the new Ryanair service to Belfast City. International passengers were down 15.7%, predominantly due to capacity cuts by easyJet and the withdrawal of Lufthansa’s Frankfurt service, and charter traffic was 26.4% down due to the ongoing impact of the loss of XL Airways and a reduction in ad-hoc charter traffic.
In the 12 months to the end of May passengers were down 6.6% (5.721m) with domestic passengers down 10.1% (1.105m), international passengers up 0.6% (3.562m) and charter passengers down 22.2% (1.055m).
