New fire station for Bristol Airport
16.12.08
Residents living near Bristol Airport fear a new fire station will affect wildlife in the area, the Mercury reports A new facility is planned because of regulations governing the number of appliances it has on site. But neighbouring parish councils say airport bosses should submit a proper planning application and carry out an investigation to determine how wildlife will be affected.
However, because the proposals are permitted under different laws to other applications, an environmental impact assessment is not required by North Somerset Council. In a report going before the authority's planning committee on Thursday, officers say it is not necessary as the development does not involve an extension to the runway and the area of the proposed works is not greater than an hectare.
