Bristol Airport drug smuggler jailed

A drugs smuggler who tried to smuggle cocaine worth £90,000 through Bristol Airport has been jailed for nine years.
Charles Nnaekwe, 38 who is of dual Nigerian and Dutch nationality, was stopped by customs staff in the green channel. They found more than 2 kg of suspect powder in a his suitcase. Later confirmed as 80 percent pure cocaine, it was concealed in two packages glued into the fabric lining of his suitcase.
The father-of-four initially denied a charge of being knowingly concerned in importing illegal drugs but later pleaded guilty. He said he was paid £5,000 to carry the drugs on a flight from the Gambia to Bristol.
Recorder Mr Alan Large said: ‘You must have known that for that sort of money you were importing hard drugs into the country.’ He jailed Mr Nnaekwe for nine years at Bristol Crown Court yesterday.
