Bristol Airport parking permission refused

A controversial Bristol Airport parking scheme has been refused planning permission. The Bristol Park and Fly airport car park has been operating from Monaghan's Mushroom Farm, in Stock Lane in Langford, for months without a licence. It was refused planning permission last week, although this has only just been made public.
An application for the change of use of an area of the farm from a compost yard to an airport parking area was made in June, but on October 3 the application was refused by North Somerset Council planning officers.
Churchill and Langford parish councillor, Jackie Bush, told the Weston & Somerset Mercury she thinks it is the right decision. She has recently complained about the numerous occasions that cars had been turning up at her house thinking it was the site of Bristol Park and Fly.
She told the newspaper: 'Hopefully this refusal will mean a reduction in traffic along Stock Lane, which definitely increased when they started operating the parking service. I know that other people in the village are very pleased about the decision, but they have also said they will not stop campaigning against the company as they think the refusal will probably be appealed.'
Steven Merry, managing director and the only employee of Bristol Park and Fly, declined to comment on the planning decision, after only learning of the outcome when contacted by the Weston & Somerset Mercury!
