New codeshare deal offers indirect New York flights from Bristol Airport
11.08.10
A new codeshare deal is to make it simpler for passengers from Bristol Airport to catch flight to the US. Earlier this year it was announced that the airport would lose its direct service to New York from Continental Airlines on November 7. However, the airline has signed a codeshare agreement with Brussels Airlines, which will allow passengers to catch one of three flights a day from Bristol to the Belgian capital, and connect to Continentals services to Newark Airport.
The airlines are part of the Star Alliance, meaning passengers will be able to collect and use air miles on the two networks and business travellers will be able to use the Star Alliance Company Plus loyalty programme. Bags can also be checked through.
Shaun Browne, aviation director at Bristol Airport, said: ‘This agreement is good news for Continental's customers in the south west and Wales.’
