Bristol Airport parking planning appeal rejected

A Bristol Airport parking business in Langford has had its appeal against an enforcement notice rejected.
Bosses of Bristol Park and Fly, which operates from Monaghan's Mushroom Farm in Stock Lane, were served the enforcement notice by North Somerset Council after an application to change the use of land at the site was rejected.
A subsequent appeal was then held on September 2, where issues such as the potential for increased traffic from the site were discussed. That appeal has now been turned down by planning inspector Tim Belcher as the land at Monaghan's Mushroom Farm is not a location specified for airport parking by the North Somerset Replacement Local Plan, which was created to regulate development in the district.
In his report, Mr Belcher said: ‘The issue of car parking provision for the airport is a matter properly addressed through this specific local policy rather than through piecemeal planning applications. It is only in this way that North Somerset Council can plan for the provision of an integrated transport service between Weston and the airport.’
Churchill and Langford Parish Council chairman Jackie Bush said: ‘I am very pleased that people can't just set up wherever they want and get away with it. For people in the village the vehicles travelling to and from the site were a grave concern.’
As a result of the appeal, Mr Belcher concluded that Bristol International Airport currently has sufficient parking. Bristol Park and Fly now has four months to comply with the enforcement notice and stop operating as an airport parking service.
