Bristol Airport free parking limit causing local traffic problems
09.08.10
Restricted free waiting time at Bristol Airport is causing lay-bys and roads near the hub to be filled with cars, the Weston Mercury reports. Drivers must pay £4 for waiting longer than 10 minutes at the airports pick up and drop off area and cannot return within 15 minutes. Wrington community leaders said at their most recent meeting, that people picking up passengers were parking outside to avoid the charge.
Parking is free for stays of up to 10 minutes and airport bosses say the no-return restrictions are there to stop cars causing congestion by circulating around the site. However, Councillor Michael Berkley said: ‘The problem is that there are people parking around the perimeter of the airport waiting for their 15 minutes to be up, before returning.'
