Another emergency landing at Bristol Airport
07.05.08
Emergency services rushed to Bristol Airport after an plane suffered landing gear problems. The incident came in the same week that another plane made an emergency landing at the airport.
A total of 15 fire crews from Brislington, Bedminster, Temple Back and Southmead were put on standby at Bristol Airport just after 15:30 yesterday. The Manx2 flight from the Isle of Man to Gloucester was diverted to Bristol after problems were reported with its landing gear.
However, the plane managed to land safely at the airport at 15:40 and the emergency services were able to stand down. James Filleul, communications director at Manx2, said the decision to land at Bristol was taken because equipment on board suggested there might be a problem with the landing gear.
None of the 18 passengers on board the 19-seater Metroliner plane were injured. They were transferred to Gloucester by bus. The plane was thoroughly checked before going back into service.
