A man has received a five month prison sentence for being drunk and disruptive on an inbound flight to Bristol. Andrew Cairns, 30 and from Barnstaple in Devon was arrested after travelling on a flight from Malaga on June 22.
During the flight he became disruptive towards other passengers and cabin crew. On arrival police arrested him for drunkenness and disruptive behaviour on a flight. Their investigations revealed he had been drinking his own secret supply of alcohol during the flight and as a result became abusive to nearby passengers and cabin crew.
On September 2, he was sentenced to five months in prison after he failed to appear at an earlier hearing. He pleaded guilty to drunk and bad behaviour on an aircraft.
Chris Ware, Head of Security at Bristol Airport, said: ‘Inappropriate behaviour when flying can spoil the experience for fellow passengers, as well as having safety implications. This case sends out a strong message that anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated at the airport or on board a flight.’
