bmibaby add one Birmingham route, axe another

bmibaby is dropping a city break route and replacing it with a holiday resort destination at Birmingham Airport. Flights to Cork are being replaced with a service to Newquay - which will operate between May 22 and September 20.
Managing director Crawford Rix said: ‘The airline industry is currently seeing a weakening in demand from consumers for impulsive city breaks and an increase for typical sun destinations; this is a direct result of the current economic climate.'
‘In order to meet the demand for more beach routes, we will be replacing the route from Birmingham to Cork with the new service to Newquay. This will enable us to meet the high consumer demand for services to beach destinations.’
