Two arrested at Birmingham Airport over illegal immigration attempt
29.06.11
Two people were arrested at Birmingham Airport over a suspected immigration scam, the Birmingham Mail reports. The man and woman had arrived on a flight from Brussels and were apprehended by a team from the UK Border Agency just after they presented their passports.
British national Anton Jgonndoci, 29, of Plymouth, was charged with facilitation while Albanian national Pranvera Jgonndoci, also 29, was charged with two identity offences and seeking leave to remain by deception. Both appeared at Solihull Magistrates’ Court on Monday where they were remanded into custody until July 12.
Neil Cross, of UK Border Agency, told the newspaper: ‘We are cracking down on immigration crime, and removing people and gangs who have been abusing the system through sham marriages, illegal working, people smuggling and document fraud.’
