Milestone for Birmingham Airport
20.12.08
The expansion of Birmingham Airport has taken an important step forward with the last piece of steel framework installed at its new International Pier development - a facility that will allow Birmingham to cope with a rising demand for flights as well as improving its connectivity to a number of destinations around the world.
Will Heynes, Birmingham Airport's operations director, said that it was now possible to see the pier ‘taking shape’. He said: ‘This building will play an important part in our strategy for long-haul carriers and will help us meet our aspirations to provide worldwide services from the Midlands.'
Money spent on the pier, which is to total in the region of £45 million, represents the largest investment it has made in the last 20 years.
