Flybe: pay us to collect APD
18.04.08
Businesses acting as tax collectors should be paid for doing so, a senior airline official said. Flybe's general manager for market development Ian Taylor says that the aviation industry collects a fortune for the Treasury and but gets nothing back for the expense incurred.
Mr Taylor said that airlines have to collect duties such as air passenger duty and then hand the money over to the Government. However, he said that if the collection work was a commercial transaction, the business would expect to receive some type of reward for the work.
