17.08.11
Flybe has announced an increase in passengers and revenues, despite a ‘continuing backdrop of high fuel costs’. In a trading update released this morning, the airline said that revenue for the three months ended 30 June was £160.4m, up 8.3 percent on the same period last year.
Passenger numbers increased by 7.7 percent to two million and revenue per seat was up by 4.9 percent to £48.09, with average ticket income up 3.4 percent to £62.27. Current trading was described as ‘encouraging’, with forward ticket sales revenue up 6 percent on last year.
Jim French, chief executive officer of Flybe, said: ‘This is a satisfactory trading and operational performance achieved against a continuing backdrop of high fuel costs and challenging economic conditions. We are pleased to report encouraging increases in revenue per passenger and revenue per seat. The group has also made excellent progress on its strategic growth plans, with the acquisition of Finncomm, the strengthening of the management and divisional structures and aircraft sales.’
