Birmingham Airport passengers down 7.7%

Passenger numbers at Birmingham Airport dropped by 7.7% in March compared to last year. A total of 674,301 passengers used the airport in the month - 563,105 scheduled passengers and 111,196 charter passengers. The result underlines ‘the challenging economic environment’ it is facing, the airport said.
A spokesman said the conditions were affecting the whole of the aviation industry and Birmingham was ‘performing better than the majority of other UK airports’. Chief executive officer, Paul Kehoe, said that he had ‘always said that this year will be a testing one’.
