Record March for Birmingham Airport

Birmingham Airport had 730,307 passengers in March, smashing the previous highest figure recorded for the month of March and an 8.4% increase over the previous year. 595,306 scheduled passengers and 135,001 charter passengers passed though its two passenger terminals.
Passenger growth on non-EU routes of 9.7%, on EU routes 10.8% and on domestic routes 0.9%. Scheduled routes that experienced growth included: Bratislava (up 394.7%), Madrid (up 394.1%), Barcelona (up 189.1%), Geneva (up 158%), Berne (up 80.3%), Faro (up 76.6%), Murcia (up 72.4%) and Chambery (up 66.2%)..
Charter routes that experienced growth were included (up 145%), Cyprus (up 40.3%), Italy (up 32.9%), Austria (up 25.9%), France (up 24.6%), Egypt (up 14.8%), Switzerland (up 13.7%) and the Canary Islands (up 13.4%).
Peter Vella, Business Development Director at the airport, said: ‘It is the second straight month of record-breaking passenger figures, which is great news as we strive to break the 10 million passenger barrier this year. We are delighted to have seen flybe launch new routes to Inverness and Newquay, which increases the choice available to passengers flying from Birmingham Airport.‘
