Luton and Birmingham airports are the most expensive places to buy foreign currency according to a new survey by FairFX. It compared airport bureau de change with other options such as buying currency on the internet, as well as its own FairFX stored value card.
The company say that airport bureau are the most expensive option with ICE (International Currency Exchange) at Luton, Birmingham’s Travelex and MoneyCorp at Stansted offering the worst rates.
FairFX chief executive Stephen Heath said: ‘To avoid the worst rates on the market, which are generally found in airports and train stations, travellers need to be organised. By preparing in advance and buying your currency online, travellers will be able to get the most bang for their buck.’
