Birmingham Airport hotel thief jailed

A thief has been jailed for 18 months after trying to snatch a cash drawer from the reception of a Birmingham Airport hotel – just months after stealing equipment from an ambulance. Tyrone McDermott jumped the front desk at the Etap Hotel on July 20 but made off empty handed after being disturbed by staff. He was arrested later that day.
Last Christmas Eve, the 30-year-old stole a computer, navigation systems, mobile phones and other equipment from an ambulance parked outside Hall Green Health Centre. He received a 12-month prison term, suspended for one year, for that offence in April at Birmingham Crown Court. This week the same court jailed McDermott after hearing how he had struck again at the airport hotel - and a petrol station and supermarket - during that suspended period.
