Flybe upgrades website security
15.02.08
Flybe has upgraded its security systems for handling customers' financial data. The regional airline has more than 20 million visitors to its website per year and 85 percent of bookings are taken online. With more than 2000 devices connected to its databases, the airline needed to be able to track attempts access to information as well as the data itself.
Flybe IT security manager Chris Cooper said that the new security systems needed to be scalable and able to handle peaks and troughs of demand. He said: ‘We needed technology that could monitor events across our network and manage sharp increases in information needing to be stored.’
Enterprise security specialist Gradian helped Flybe install the technology from vendor RSA. The scheme will also help the airline meet the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) which governs the storage of customer data.
