Monarch launch self-service check-in at Birmingham Airport
13.11.07
Budget airline Monarch has launched self-serve check-in for its passengers at Birmingham Airport. All passengers travelling on scheduled Monarch flights from the airport can use the Common Use Self-Service kiosks (CUSS) located in the main concourse of the airport's Terminal 1 to reduce the amount of time it takes to check in.
Passengers simply swipe their passport through the machine, check in, and print off their boarding card. The system will recognise pre-allocated seating or the passengers can select their seats at this point. Then those with hold baggage go to the 'fast bag drop' desk, where they will be tagged as normal and sent to the aircraft.
FlyMonacrch managing director, Liz Savage, said: 'We are the first low-fares airline to launch the new CUSS kiosks at Birmingham Airport's Terminal 1 and we are confident that our passengers will very quickly realise the benefits of using them.'
'We successfully launched CUSS services in Manchester last Summer and have seen up to 20% of passengers using the facility to avoid the check-in queues so we are delighted to now be offering the service from Birmingham as well.'
