Record April for Birmingham Airport

Birmingham Airport has announced that it enjoyed its busiest ever April this year, with 712,476 people passing through the airport's terminals in the month. It was the third consecutive record-breaking month for Birmingham, with February and March also seeing best-ever figures.
Some 598,712 scheduled and 113,764 charter passengers used the airport's two terminals, smashing its previous record figure for April and exceeding last year's total by 6.2 percent. Growth was achieved on non-EU routes of 5 percent, EU routes of 10.9 percent and domestic of 5.3 percent. The Irish Republic saw an increase of 17.6 percent.
Scheduled routes that experienced growth in April include: Geneva (+533.1 percent), Bratislava (+418.6 percent), Warsaw (+142 percent), Inverness (+106.1 percent), Chambery (+96 percent), Dusseldorf (+46.8 percent), Paphos (+37.4 percent) and Stuttgart (+33.2 percent). Charter routes that experienced growth were Turkey (+19.3 percent), Canary Islands (+9.5 percent), Egypt (+8.1 percent) and Cyprus (+4.4 percent).

With new routes launched to Bergamo with bmibaby, Newquay with flybe and Girona and Pisa with Ryanair during April, our passengers continue to have an ever-increasing range of destinations to choose from.’
