Big drugs find at Birmingham Airport

Customs officers at Birmingham Airport have foiled a bid to smuggle thousands of pounds worth of cocaine into the country hidden in tubs of hand cream. Edwin Atuegwu Mbonu, 54, from Lagos, Nigeria was charged with smuggling Class A drugs into the UK following the discovery on Sunday.
About one kilo of the drug was found concealed in tubs of hand cream. The estimated value was about £45,000, although Customs officials say this would have doubled or even trebled once ‘cut’ by drug dealers before being sold on the streets. About £2,000 in cash was also seized under the Proceeds of Crime Act.
